Was planning what to have for dinner with JL last Friday. There are a few places we wanna try – FullHouse, Chye Seng Huat Hardware Cafe, Strictly Pancakes, Hungry Chimps… Well, we assume FullHouse will be “fullhouse” by the time we leave office. Walked from Dhoby Gaut, and we went into Hungry Chimps Cafe.
Located on the second floor of a row of shophouses at Prinsep Street. Couldn’t resist to take the picture of the glass door. Cute monkey/ape/chimp :p Walked up the brightly lit stairs and we were greeted by friendly staffs. Surprisingly, it’s not crowded on a Friday night. Maybe, it’s still early. Love the decor, and it’s full of monkeys/apes/chimps images. Very colorful interior with White, Olive Green and Grey.
They have interesting names to the dishes, eg. 2 Little Pigs (Grilled Pork Chops), The Orient (Chicken Chop marinated in Oriental Spices), etc. As there’s only 2 of us, we only ordered 2 main and a side. Very tempted to order the Lava Cake too, but JL stopped me…wahahah…she’s sure that we will not be able to finish everything.
Chimps Specialty Calamari Rings
Not as golden brown as other cafes, but it’s still crunchy. But has to eat while it’s hot. It turns soft and soggy when it’s cold.
The Ocean Catch
Choice of Garden Salad or Coleslaw, Fries or Butter Rice. The portion is big!
Nicely grilled chicken chop with nice oriental sauce.
You can top up S$4.00 for Cream Mushroom Soup and there’s no service charge and GST. And guess what, we really couldn’t finish the food…ha ha ha…
