Read several good reviews of Au Chocolat, a French-inspired concept store from several blogs. It consists of bistro dining area and a retail confiserie with a wide selection of chocolate and candy (YUM YUM….) JL and I decided to try on last Wednesday. Made a reservation for 2 at 730pm via Chope’s Website. 2nd time making reservation via Chope, previously was reserving a table at Prive for his birthday. Very convenient. Seems like they have more restaurants in their list now. Not sure what and where to eat, you can make use of their advance search for some help. Oh, and now there’s Chope HK!
Reached Au Chocolat at about 745pm (as usual, didn’t get to leave office on the dot). It was quite packed with 3 groups of customers waiting to be seated. We were seated somewhere near their open kitchen (clothes smell after that). So many items on the menu, so many cute stuffs and of course we were busy taking pictures before ordering. Wahahah… Love the interior.
Truffle Fries
Seems like a must order item in Au Chocolat. However, I think we’d still prefer normal fries. Keep thinking that it smell like burnt plastic :p Maybe, it’s just us.
Handmade Mini Crab Cakes Sliders
Looks cute. The specially seasoned crab cakes made in-house with guacamole, tomato & caramelised banana ketchup sauce sandwiched between mini sesame coated burger bun. I’d prefer having it without the caramelised banana ketchup sauce :p
The Great Carnivore
Consist of ham, mushrooms & cheddar cheese sautéed with three eggs, cooked to perfection served with tater tots, crispy bacon strips & brioche bread. I would think this is so-so only, cheese too much for me :p
JL saw this coaster on the next table. Ok, this is a known secret, I will go crazy when it comes to coaster. Wherever I go, be it bars or restaurants, I’ll sneak the coasters out when waiters are not watching. He he he… I actually ordered us 2 cold drinks just to get the coaster but NO! It came with a glass of ice-water instead…sigh…wasted $12 on drinks :p Can I request for additional coaster from restaurants/bars for collection?
Walked over to the confiserie for a short walk. Ooo…lotsa cakes, chocolates, toys, pens, etc. So cute! Love the French Bulldog!
