Boyfriend had been raving about the Myanmar Eatery at Excelsior Shopping Centre that his colleague brought M and him there. And finally, he brought me there last Friday, which was also my Lunar Birthday and was just a day before my Birthday (English Calendar) 😀 This is my first time tasting Burmese food.
Reached there at about 730pm (he eh he…as usual, I’m always late) and the place was already packed. I didn’t realise that there’s so many Burmese working in Singapore :p
Pork Leg Soup ($4)
Love it. It’s spicy, peppery. Tasted like a mix of 猪什汤 and 肉骨茶. Pork tender, soft and yummy :p
Shan Rice Noodle – Dry ($4.50)
Seems like a popular Myanmar food. A Mixture of minced meat, peanut, shallots, etc.
Stir well and eat. It’s yummy, but slightly salty for me.
Spicy Steamed Fish ($15)
Tadah, this is the fish that he was excited about. Not as spicy as I thought. The gravy on top is a mixture of Peanut and Sesame, very rich. Doesn’t really look appetizing, but is really yummy. Fish nicely steamed, meat soft and tender. A bit plain if were to eat on its own. Think the mixture was poured on top after steamed and not together?
Very filling dinner. Do give it a try if you are in the area.
I don’t really know Burmese cuisine well, nor I am familiar with the Burmese restaurants in Singapore. If you do, please share it with me too.
