This is a super overdue post. I have been wanting to share this place which colleague accidentally found it during lunch time. It’s indeed a great find. We’ve been going there almost 3 times a week ever since and sometimes will go there for drinks after work 😀
Chinatown Traditional Kitchen is located at Mosque Street in Chinatown, within walking distance from Chinatown MRT. It is co-owned by the Backpackers Inn Chinatown and Cow & Coolies Karaoke Bar nearby. Lunch starts at 11am in the morning and evening, they serve a menu of local delicacies (Zi Char) from their kitchen. It’s pretty lively at night too. Most importantly, staffs are helpful & friendly, place is cozy, food is yummy & affordable. We have been going there in quite a big group, I guess the staffs and lady boss should have recognised us by now :p We love their snacks, and even ordered for 80 pax for our Christmas Party last year :p
The menu during lunch time is slightly different. They have Express Sets, which is about $5 – $7 and each set comes with a main and drink. Pretty affordable. There’s a long list to choose from such as Curry Beef Rice, Salted Egg Chicken Rice, Pork Ribs in Milk Butter wRice (my colleagues’ favorite), KL Hokkien Mee, Mui Fan, and the list goes on.
This is the Curry Beef Rice that I usually order and it’s really spicy for me, but shiok 😀
My favorite Salted Egg Chicken:
yummy to go with beer :p
one of my favorite too – Eggs with Long Beans
Thai Style Tofu
So, do check them out if you’re looking for some place to stay in Singapore or some eateries in Chinatown.
