Went shopping at Tampines and had dinner at Ramen Kagetsu Arashi at Tampines 1. Boyfriend remembered he saw this place after his lunch with J one day and wanted to try. He kinda like Ramen and especially those that comes with Soft Boil Eggs.

Not a fan of Garlic, I chose the Arashi Genkotsu Sio Ramen + Corn whereas he ordered the No1. Arashi Genkotsu Ramen + Special Add-on (Pork + Soft Boil Egg). Placed orders and waited and waited and waited… Maybe we were too engrossed with the games, i asked “how long have we waited?” We waited for about 20-30mins and we looked around, a couple who was placing their orders when we sat down were now waiting for their food too and the shop was only half full… Luckily, he didn’t come here for lunch with J…

The food was served. To be honest, we couldn’t catch what the waitress was saying and we ended up not sure which is which. We asked her to repeat again and couldn’t figure it out also. I chose the one with less Garlic tastes (Do comment if you think I’m wrong).

Arashi Genkotsu Ramen (for him)
The best selling Ramen. My first comment was “Don’t think you’ll like the egg”. He asked why. My reply was “It’s too cooked for you”. Wahahaha… He’s quite disappointed with the egg, he expected it to be runny kind. Soup was ok, house-made secret Tonkotsu broth simmered with with pork marrow bones, fat and collagen. Too much garlic for me, but he likes it.

Arashi Genkotsu Sio Ramen (for me)
A local favorite, Sio Ramen with unrefined natural sea salt, adding flavours to the white broth. Strong pork smell but surprisingly tasted alright. Personally, I didn’t like the texture of the Ramen. I find it too hard (not Q) as compared to others.

Overall, the food was alright but not fantastically nice. Erm… you need to try it for yourself, maybe you’ll like it. Probably there might be something wrong with my taste bud again :p What I like is that the staff passed us a basket to place our bags on the floor, Nice! Usually what I did was chucking the bag behind my back which gets quite uncomfortable after some time. And also, there’s a jar of water on every table. Very convenient, I don’t have to wave to get the staffs to refill my glass. Seen a lot of diners ordered Gyoza, shall try that next time.

His attempt in making Soft Boil Egg a while back, looks raw to me…but he loves it!
