Steamboat Dinner at Shabu Sai (Orchard Central)

Shabu Sai, Orchard Central

Met boyfriend and M for dinner at PS. Not sure if the guys were craving for steamboat, they suggested dinner at Sukiya. Queue was pretty long. They walked one round and go over to Orchard Central instead. Went to level 8. Hm…queue was equally long outside Kiseki and Shabu Sai.

Being a steamboat lover and they asked me to choose between the 2, he he he…I opt for Shabu Sai (all-you-can eat Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki). It’s not only me, boyfriend loves steamboat too. Whenever there’s some gathering, and we usually had steamboat (even when the weather is hot…). It’s probably the easiest thing to prepare, besides ordering food delivery.

Despite the queue, time flies whenever you have your smartphone with you. We got our table after about 20-30mins of chatting, playing games, searching for mobile apps, talking about games, etc. Time just zoom past without you knowing it. Anyways, shall not digress.

It is our 2nd visit and boyfriend love to cook the Dou Miao (豆苗, a vegetable) in their Sukiyaki soup. He said it’s nice! I tried and agree!

You can choose 2 out of 6/7 soup base including some special soup base only available in that month. It’s Tom Yam Miso for July & August. If you want to find out what’s the special soup of the month, you can visit their facebook Page. Anyways, we chose Sukiyaki and Tonkotsu Shoyu soup base.

The best thing is that the meats are free flow, thinly sliced, served in black square trays. If you’re a meat lover, you should be happily cooking the meat in the pot. Besides meat, there are the usual stuffs like Fish Ball, the Vegetables, Mussels, Crab Sticks, the Mushrooms, etc, and some cooked food like the sushi, etc. Oh, didn’t get to see it the last time we went, they have the minced pork in bamboo…nice! It kept us going back for more but not always that lucky to snatch 1. He he he…

Probably one down side for me is that the soup gets super salty towards the end. That was a time when you wished that there’s a pot of water on the table to add into the soup. We added additional $1.99 for free flow drinks and soft serve ice cream. Glad we had the free flow drinks…he he he… Loved the ice-cream. It’s like Mr Softee from, 7-Eleven which I had when I was young (not sure if it’s still the same now).
