Colleague’s Farewell Dinner at Tomo Izakaya

Japanese Dinner

An ex-colleague was back to help out for 1 week when one of the designer was on leave and Friday was his last day. Planned to have a dinner on Friday after work but not sure what to eat. He suggested Tomo Izakaya (Clarke Quay). He tried the food there during his last trip to Singapore and said was nice. He forgot the restaurant’s name so we didn’t manage to make any reservations.

I love the interior, quite zen-like and lighting created a relaxed atmosphere too. There’s even a music performance area near the entrance. Quite a good place to unwind after work.

There’s this cute looking statue at the entrance too.

Waited at the entrance for a while until someone attended to us. I think they must be very busy as the staffs walked in and out, walked here and there serving customers. All tables indoor were reserved, luckily there’s still a table available at the smoking area.

Looking at the menu, the food pics look nice. Some of the items were quite pricey, especially Sashimi, which I think is quite normal. We finally managed to place our orders after several tries to stop the staffs who walked pass our table.

Ebi Ten Maki

J had this. He said it’s nice.

Miso Nikomi Udon

Pork Cutlet

Tempura Udon

Didn’t expect to find this dish here. I had it in HK, had it once in Ajisen Ramen (but didn’t find them in the menu). I love crunchy stuffs, so I’ll definitely not miss this – Nankotsu Karaage (Chicken Soft Bone). Find it a bit bland.

It is a good place to hang out with friends or colleagues at night. But if given a choice, I wouldn’t go back as I don’t really like the service there. Well, I’m not sure if the staffs were usually not attentive or only on busy nights like Fridays. We had quite a hard time catching the attention of them. And also, one of the staff who served the Tempura Udon spilled the soup onto my colleague. I know it was probably an accident as he spilled some on his hand too. To our surprise, he did not apologise and just walked off after putting the bowl on the table. *Roll Eye*.

They do earned pretty good reviews from other diners. What I’ve encountered may be one of the few rare cases which probably seldom happen.
