We went to prawn-fishing aka prawning at Hai Bin @Punggol after the less-than satisfactory dinner on Friday. Since it’s near home, he and I went home to put our stuffs before joining them there. It’s always very crowded (mostly young crowds) when we walked pass, rarely get a chance to prawn. Luckily they managed to get seats. Quite fun, but really gotta be patient, quite torturing for me. Firstly, I cannot really sit still and kinda impatient. Secondly, I’m a huge mosquito bait (people around me should be safe from mozzies). But I managed to catch 3 :p It is a nice environment with music, beer, snacks/finger food and lotsa mozzies too. It’s better to bring some mozzie patch with you.
Booking rate is $18 per rod per hour, $28 per rod per 2hrs or $33 per rod per 3hrs. Hai Bin @Punggol has 4 ponds, 1 for fish (not sure what type of fish, but BIG). Staffs will go round filling the ponds with live prawns/fish. Ha ha ha…quite fake but it’s still exciting when you manage to hook one (at least for me). There are BBQ pits readily available for you to BBQ your fresh catch on the spot. Satay Sticks and salt are provided too, very convenient indeed.

The bag of prawns contributed to our dinner yesterday, M came and join us with his new toy – Samsung Note II. Looks & feel good. Am still considering if I should get Note II or Samsung SIII… We are both using SII now, mine was a present from him early this year.
He cooked Stir-Fry Prawn Noodle and Char Kway Teow (Stir-Fry Noodle). Prawn noodle was good, but the Char Kway Teow was too salty and dark. Not sure if he followed any recipes or just add the seasoning he wants. Occassionally we do search for recipes from Munch Ministry, Asia Food Recipe and some foodblogs which I follow (Hip Foodie Mom) to see what we can eat/cook if we are not going out on weekends.
Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee
Ingredients used:
– 1/2 pack yellow noodle (hokkien noodle)
– 1/2 pack thick beehoon (laksa noodle)
– Prawns
– Crab Stick (used this to replace squid)
– Fish Cake
– Pork (sliced, seasoned)
– Fish Sauce
– Garlic
– Salt
Recipe adapted from a post in Munch Ministry – posted by Yukie Cody. Taste good, but he didn’t prepare the Prawn Stock. Shall try another version with Prawn Stock.
Fried Kway Teow
Ingredients used:
– 1/2 pack yellow noodle (hokkien noodle)
– Prawns
– Crab Stick (just add, because we love it)
– Chinese Sausage (we didn’t put)
– Fish Cake
– Pork (sliced, seasoned)
– Fish Sauce
– Garlic
– Salt
– Sweet Dark Soya Sauce
Didn’t follow any recipe for this, based on hunch :p However, it didn’t taste nice as last time, it’s not sweet and it’s salty (I think I gave him the wrong dark soya sauce :p). Found a recipe in Munch Ministry, you can try it.
We also bought Marinated Chicken Chop, French beans but didn’t used. Shall use it to cook Chicken Chop with his mom’s happy call pan later. Stay tuned :p
