Day Off :D

Took leave today to run some errands as well as a lunch & movie (John Carter) date with him.  He resigned from his job and is having his break before he starts his new job.  Left home at 130pm.  He booked the movie tickets while we’re in the train.

Couldn’t decide what to eat, and the movie starts at 430pm.  And most of the buffet ends at 230pm or starts at 330pm, neither here nor there.  So, was browsing some suggestions on Hungrygowhere.  Then I decided to try Antoinette in Somerset Mandarin Gallery.  Saw the photos in my friend’s facebook and seems quite a nice place, but quite a few poor review in Hungrygowhere.  I still decided to give it a try!

A French cafe/restaurant operating less than a year, serving cakes, pastries, macaroons, all day breakfast, pancakes, crepes, etc.  They do serve main course and pastas but choices are limited.  Maybe it’s a weekday, there wasn’t any queue and only a few tables were taken.  The lightings are dim, creating a great ambience.  The seats are comfortable, and no wonder people can sit and chat for a long time.  We ordered Cappucino, Chamomile, Gnocchi Carbonara and Seafood Alio Olio.  Well, didn’t get to try the pastries…they really look nice.

Gnocchi Carbonara: S$18.50

Gnocchi Carbonara – “Parisan Gnocchi sauteed with Caramelized Bacon, White Wine Cream Sauce, served with Poached Egg and Aged Parmesan Cheese”.  From what I’ve gathered from Internet, Gnocchi may be made from ordinary wheat flour, egg, cheese, potato or similar ingredients. I only had a bit because I cannot take cheesy stuffs, wow, it’s really cheesy and rich.  If you’re really into cheese, you shouldn’t miss this.

Seafood Alio Olio: S$24.00

Seafood Alio Olio – “Mussels, Scallops, Squids, Prawns cooked in white wine sauce with olive oil, chilli and Italian parsley”.  I had Seafood Alio Olio…is rich in flavour but slightly salty for me.  The mussels, scallops, prawns, squids are fresh.

Chamomile_Cappucino: S$13.50

Total amount added up to S$65.90, inclusive of service charge and tax.  Good ambience, good food, good service (even though most reviews stated otherwise)…will definitely go back again to try their pancakes, crepes and CAKES!

Overall:  ♥♥♥♥
